The name of the Momiji Garden has been changed to "Shiki no Niwa・Senkei (Senkei) Garden."

We have decided to rename our facility's "Momiji Garden" to "Shiki no Niwa・Senkei (Senkei) Garden."

Although the Momiji Garden is a part of the memorial hall, it is widely known simply as "Momiji Garden." As autumn approaches, we receive various inquiries. However, there are several places named "Momiji Garden" within Niigata Prefecture, leading to frequent misunderstandings by our visitors about the location. To address this issue and to help make our garden more widely recognized, we have decided to adopt the aforementioned unique name.

The origin of the name comes from:
- "Izumi" (泉), which refers to "Sensha," the Nakano family’s trade name dating back to the Edo period.
- "Megumi" (恵), which is derived from the gratitude expressed by Kan’ichi Nakano, the founder of the family's modern prosperity, in his waka poem:

"何事もなしえぬ老いの身にしあれば
あつき恵みにいかで報いむ"

(This expresses Kan’ichi’s gratitude for the blessings brought by the oil wells, represented by the word "Izumi.")

Going forward, in line with our new name "Shiki no Niwa" (Garden of Four Seasons), we plan to plant a variety of flowers and trees to allow visitors to enjoy the garden’s beauty throughout all four seasons.
